Jewellery Short course with Kate Hunter starting this evening at 6pm


A message from Kate regarding standard of dress and footwear for class

Hi Everyone
Welcome to the Jewellery and Silversmithing class this evening.

We will be in room Y 104 at the top of the ramp into Y block. The best place to park is in the car park next to the Hospitality building on Gatton Street. You can then walk towards Y block (on left from car park) and the Horticulture shed ( to the right). A map of the campus can be found the enrolment info tab on left hand side of page.

I would like you to bring a note book and pen or pencil for your own notes and references.

Please wear covered shoes and not to flowing clothes.

I would also like hair to be tied back to prevent any mishap.

I look forward to meeting you all and sharing my passion for Silversmithing.

Jewellery and Silversmith Introductory course with Kate Hunter starts Thursday 9th of October


The next class in Jewellery and Silversmithing starts on Thursday 9th October.

The class runs for 4 Thursday evenings until Thursday 30th of October, 6.00pm – 8.30pm.  Y Block room Y104. Cost $170.01 - phone 1300 656 959 to enrol

This introductory course will teach you fundamental jewellery making techniques using the jeweller’s saw, the art of heat control and soldering, jewellery component, chain and ring making, along with the principles of forging and doming.
You will be able to create a piece of finished wearable jewellery, or small set within the 4 weeks. Bring design ideas for discussion and note/sketch book.  
No experience necessary, equipment supplied, wear covered shoes, tied back hair and apron.  There will be additional costs for materials - silver purchased directly from the teacher on the night at $3 per gram (6 - 12 grams depending on the size of the project so approx. $20 - $40 in silver) To contact Kate for further information email her at info@katehunterdesigns.com

Certificate III Students have finished the week with Sculpture class

The CUV30111 Certificate III in Visual Arts students have finished the week with the Produce Sculpture unit. Today's class focused on introductory mouldmaking skills with students working on a small ceramic jewellery piece (pendant) or a small relief tile in a smooth white clay. The mould will be made using Plaster of Paris and the pieces will be reproduced using stoneware and porcelain clays. They will be finished using a range of ceramic decorative and glazing techniques.
