2011 enrolments will be available from the 10th of January for fulltime Cert IV students, all Diploma students and those wishing to enrol in the Wednesday PT drawing/painting class. All Cert IV students wanting to enrol on a part time basis in other timetabled classes please contact us after the 20th of January to organise your enrolment.

Diploma of Visual Art student exhibition

Les Femmes and John is an exhibition of works by a vibrant group of art practitioners. Coming from diverse backgrounds, these artists bring together their distinctive interpretation and creative energy in this show. This exciting line up of contemporary and traditional work features drawing, sculpture, painting, ceramics and digital media.

The underpinning knowledge and inspiration central to these works reflect the complexity and diversity of life. The works explore a range of issues including loss of culture, the environment, innocence and other aspects of the human condition.

Visual Arts - students end of year exhibitions

GALLERY Inc

A new gallery has opened up at The Pier. The space features work by established local artists including staff members Julie Poulsen, Jenny Valmadre and Barbara Dover

ARTiculate

'ARTiculate' can now be viewed in the Yblock Gallery. On exhibit is the practical results from the Diploma Assemblage students. Students had to communicate concept successfully through the art of assemblage. Each student worked hard to create the work and put the show together themselves.

LEAP

Louisa Ennis Thomas and Sam Vatovey were successful in their application to the ‘LEAP’ program ( Loft Emerging Artist’s Program). This sort after exhibition program is for artists and art collectives of Far North Queensland. It gives the opportunity for emerging artists to display their work in a professional gallery. The program gives the applicants a chance to develop and extend their art practice and work towards a solo exhibition the Cairns Regional Gallery’s loft space. The program application and selection process are both lengthy and arduous so being successful whilst still studying is a great achievement.

Both students will be having their solo show in the first half of next year.
