At this stage enrolment forms are not yet available. We are anticipating enrolments opening from the 14th January 2013 for full-time study and 24th January 2013 for part-time study. Please check the blog spot for further updates on enrolment dates. Classes start the week beginning the 18th of February.

CERTIFICATE IV Annual Exhibition 2012

'Visualeyes',The annual exhibition for Certificate IV was held in 'R' Block at the Cairns campus on Nov.29.
Opened by Leanne Bell, the FATSIS Faculty Manager, it was a very successful evening and showcased the high standard of work produced by students in 2012.

Diploma Exhibition

2012 Diploma Exhibition is currently showing this week at c1907 Contemporary Artspace, Cairns City Place, until Saturday 8th Dec.

The Diploma end of year exhibition was opened at c1907 Contemporary Artspace, City Place, Cairns,by Donna -Maree O'Conner, the Deputy Institute Director TNQ TAFE, 'Aggregate' continues until Saturday December 8, 2012.

The Annual Pottery Sale was held inside the foyer of 'R' block on the Cairns Campus, in conjunction with the Certificate IV exhibition. As usual this event was well attended by both staff and students eager to buy quality hand made ceramics. The pottery sale is held annually on the last Friday in November.

5 week evening class in Mould making and casting with Jenny Valmadre starting Wednesday 16th of May

What to bring: note pad and pen, bucket, sponges, rubber gloves and a head full of good ideas.

What to wear: old clothes and covered shoes must be worn

Brief overview of workshop
• 16 May, participants will make 3 small blanks in low relief and drop.
• 23 May, the moulds will be poured over the blanks using cottles, clay walls and humping. Time allowing we will also make texture stamps from paper using powder as a release agent.
• 30 May, cast wax, which will cool and be released in time to cast concrete into the same mould. The other two moulds will be used to cast both forms of paper; a very busy night.
• 06 & 13 June, experimentation with surface finishes

Photography class Cancelled

The photography class that was due to start today Friday 11th of May has been cancelled due to insufficent numbers. Interested students are asked to register their contact details with a view to a new class being organised in Semester 2. Please contact Kerry Grierson on 40422505.
